CIS (Center for Internet Security) benchmarks for various Linux distributions are available at https://www.cisecurity.org/cis-benchmarks/. The Kurian Linux AMI are hardened following those benchmarks. The instances spun from these AMIs would provide a secured Linux platform that you can use to run various applications safely.
